Love Lab Slots
When it comes to discussing Love Lab, it’s hard to know where to begin. Chances are you won’t come across another game quite like it. So, has WorldMatch nailed their formula with this one? Is this slot game a result of good chemistry or simply bad science?
The Nutty Professor and Others
Unlike some other titles from WorldMatch, Love Lab doesn’t start with an opening trailer. It seems like the developers have poured all their creativity directly into the game itself. Right from the start, players are greeted with a quirky laboratory setting featuring an elderly scientist, his various potions, and the red-headed “babe” he’s attempting to, let’s say, intoxicate. Let’s just call it a “magic potion.” Although in this light-hearted game, it might have been smoother to transform the potion into an elixir that makes him young and charming, but oh well.
It’s evident from the game icons that this game is not meant to be taken too seriously. Our very own Einstein (complete with a humorous mustache) strikes all sorts of wacky poses, including one where he’s showered with chemicals, another where he’s wielding an oversized syringe, and yet another where he’s lost in the gaze of the alluring redhead. Other standout icons depict his fantasy of the redhead in a bikini, one where she spills the potion all over herself while drinking it, and another where the chemical reaction turns highly toxic.
The reels blend subtly into the background, blurring the distinction between foreground and background. The numbering of the 25 different winning lines is so discreet that you’ll need to pay close attention to spot them (or refer to the diagrams on the paytable page).
Upon closer inspection, you’ll notice the scientist in the midst of his seduction with the lingerie-clad lady. The screen’s edges feature conventional jars and test tubes filled with differently colored chemicals. The most sought-after icon is when our scientist has his “eureka” moment of discovery, fetching the game’s maximum reward of 2,500 credits for landing 5 of them.
Weird Science
Love Lab follows the traditional navigation features common in WorldMatch games, making gameplay and settings adjustments a breeze. The 25-line game offers various betting options from 1 to 100 credits, playable at 1, 5, 10, 15, or 25 lines. For the daring, Max Bet instantly sets the stake to 100 credits; however, it’s worth noting that these credits are in cents and Euros. Those looking to take it easy can opt for Autoplay, offering 7 different settings ranging from 5 to 1,000 automatic spins.
Payouts occur from left to right, with occasional cases of bi-directional wins where the highest one is awarded. The game features a Wildcard symbol that replaces all icons except Free Spins and the Bonus Game, enhancing the chances of winning. In line with the game’s quirky theme, pink letters, a pink-and-black beaker, and brownish liquid surround the symbols. The inclusion of bubble sounds adds a delightful touch.
Chemical Bonuses
Triggering 3 or more Free Spins symbols awards you 12 Free Spins, during which all winnings are doubled. The same lines and credit settings as your original bet apply during this bonus round. Additionally, landing 5 of these symbols grants 150 credits, 4 symbols give 30 credits, and 3 symbols entitle you to an extra 15 credits.
Obtaining 3 Bonus symbols (depicting a comical beaker leaking on the head) grants you access to a special Bonus Game. Clicking on all 6 test tubes filled with potion reveals the total bonus awarded by the strange concoction. This feature is definitely unlike any science class experiment! The bonus amount is displayed on the counter; however, the potential minimum or maximum score remains undisclosed.
Glimpsing over the rules through the ‘i’ button serves as a reminder of any missed options, instructing on how to access them through the game toolbar controls. Apart from allowing basic settings adjustments like changing bets, the toolbar offers a speedier gameplay mode, social media sharing capabilities for your in-game achievements, and balance editing options.
Love it, or Hate it?
Love Lab is a game not meant for the serious lot. In fact, it’s likely one of the most eccentric, whimsical, and tongue-in-cheek games you’ll encounter. The game’s playful nature might rub some overly sensitive players the wrong way, but for the rest, it offers an entertaining experience with intriguing bonus features. Regardless, you won’t find these kinds of lessons in any conventional science textbooks.
