If the latest release of an online slot game by Barcrest seems familiar to regular players – there’s a reason for that – both the visual design and the gameplay of this slot are very reminiscent of Barcrest’s existing title Action Bank. But don’t worry if you’ve played Action Bank before; Cash Stax introduces some variations that you might enjoy.

Interestingly, with larger wagers, the game’s RTP increases, providing more incentive for bigger bets.

For those unfamiliar with the related titles or in need of a reminder, Cash Stax adopts the nostalgic theme of the classic game of tic-tac-toe from our childhood. I can’t count the hours spent playing this game on lazy Sunday afternoons in a countryside caravan park, but I do know that I would have been more eager to play if there were cash prizes at stake like in this game, rather than just a Mars bar for the winner!

Theme

Barcrest has been criticized for its somewhat dated theme designs, but there are still many players who prefer a straightforward slot game without elaborate 3D animations. Cash Stax fits the bill perfectly, featuring a standard 5×3 layout with 30 paylines that’s easy to get the hang of.

The background music might prompt you to reach for the mute button quickly – the game has only about 5 sound effects in total. It’s advisable to have your iPod ready or play something else in the background after about 30 seconds. Unless, of course, you’re a fan of classic fruit machines from the 80s; in that case, feel free to enjoy the music!

As for the symbols, they don’t hold any surprises – you’ll encounter familiar icons like noughts, crosses, bars, sevens, and a Wild Jester. However, keep a close eye out for the gold nought scatter symbol as the reels spin on the metallic game background; with so few symbols to remember, there’s no need to keep checking the paytable.

The key to racking up wins in this game lies in its two main features, starting with the staggered RTP system that adjusts based on your bet size across three tiers, allowing players to choose their preferred level of volatility:
