Jail Breaker Slot
Not many of us have experienced being incarcerated, thankfully, and the closest we come is watching Orange Is The New Black on Netflix. Or at least it was until The Art of Games released Jail Breaker, which is OFFICIALLY akin to being in prison. But entertaining.
It’s undeniably one of their most intense games, boasting an exceptionally impressive design and ambiance, especially if played in the dark while dressed in an orange jumpsuit with a loved one shouting menacing phrases at you.
Games like this shine best when they have a captivating gimmick, and Jail Breaker certainly achieves that, fully immersing you in its theme right from the start and not releasing you until you’ve completed your sentence. Or run out of credits, whichever comes first. The Art of Games really nails the theme here. But does the gameplay measure up or fall short?
In the Jailhouse Now
As previously mentioned, the design for this game is exceptional, instantly drawing you into the prison theme, with the reels depicted as a collection of CCTV screens displaying scenes from inside the prison, a clever concept that works remarkably well, featuring fifteen screens with compelling imagery, making you appreciate that you’re only playing a game online rather than living there in reality. Some of the individuals don’t appear to be very welcoming, to be honest.
Thankfully, even within the game’s context, you are comfortably situated in a guard room with your feet propped up on the counter (and your legs seem to have rickets). But there are doughnuts (a must-have for any law enforcement officer), a warm cup of something with steam billowing from it, and a provocative prison guard lady on the calendar to keep you company during the long nights. Oh, and a lively spider and a couple of even more animated critters, but it’s probably best to ignore those.
Tonight There’s Gonna be a Jailbreak
So, it’s established that the atmosphere is spot-on, including the ominous sound effects and soundtrack, and the animations mentioned are among the finest you’ll find in this genre of game. But how else does Jail Breaker attempt to capture your interest? Well, like many of The Art of Games’s other popular themed slot games, there’s a mini game where you need to try and thwart a jailbreak, and it’s quite enjoyable.
The gameplay itself isn’t as seamlessly integrated into the theme as in some of The Art of Games’s other themed games, with the primary buttons slightly less straightforward to locate, requiring a bit of time to get accustomed to it. The spin button is quite obvious, and the animation of the phone dial spinning when clicked is entertaining, while the paytable presented within prison files is quite neat. Nevertheless, spending 10 minutes trying to locate the Bet Per Line button can be a frustrating experience that could have been avoided.
Jailhouse Rocks
Despite what Elvis Presley tried to convince us of, being in prison isn’t particularly enjoyable. For starters, you’re likely not permitted to play online games that simulate the life of a prison guard with a meager diet and a multitude of CCTV monitors to monitor, all within the confines of a slot machine game.
Thankfully, for those of us with the freedom to choose how to spend our leisure time, Jail Breaker is a blast and is designed to be effortlessly picked up and played whenever desired.
As mentioned earlier, it may not match its counterparts in The Art of Games in terms of gameplay execution, but the theme and atmosphere that they’ve clearly dedicated a lot of effort into creating here are stylish enough to ensure that your time spent in this virtual cell is thoroughly enjoyable. One might wonder if any prison guards have been caught playing this game instead of monitoring their CCTV screens…
Clinky, and Clunky
Jailhouse Breaker presents one of the most immersive worlds we’ve encountered from The Art of Games thus far, especially in terms of visuals and sound effects. The gameplay itself may be a bit clumsy than what we’d come to expect from them, but the overall experience more than makes up for it, so it’s time to have your handcuffs and baton ready. And don’t forget the doughnuts!
