Hollywood Stars Slot
Who doesn’t dream of becoming a Hollywood star? From teenagers to waitresses and bellhops grinding it out in less glamorous corners of LA, everyone hopes for that big break.
There’s nothing wrong with aspiring to the glitzy A-list life. While the endless parties and red carpet affairs might eventually lose appeal, stepping into the shoes of celebrities for one night would undoubtedly be thrilling.
Hollywood Stars is a scratch card-style game that allows you to experience just that, on a 3×2 gaming grid. It may be more Z-list than A-list, but that’s not the fault of the creators at Eyecon.
To be fair to the Australian development team, replicating the Hollywood lifestyle, even in 2D on a screen, is bound to fall somewhat short. Although Hollywood Stars may not reach the heights of its namesake neighborhood, it successfully fulfills its objective of offering a brief escape from reality, with the added allure of a substantial cash prize.
The Walk of Fame
Hollywood Stars draws inspiration from the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, featuring over 2,500 terrazzo and brass stars embedded in the sidewalks of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. From Neil Armstrong to Frank Sinatra, the stars immortalize the great and the good.
In Hollywood Stars, your aim is not to walk on the famous five-pointed stars, but to reveal the prizes hidden underneath them. While such an action on Hollywood Boulevard would lead to trouble, in the game it’s perfectly acceptable.
In terms of design, Hollywood Stars is reminiscent of popular browser-based games targeted at teenage and pre-teen girls, many of which also have a Hollywood theme.
Despite being clearly marketed towards adults, it’s likely that Hollywood Stars will predominantly attract a female audience. The screen displays a 3×2 grid with black tiles adorned with red and gold stars resembling the Hollywood Hall of Fame.
On the left side of the screen, beneath the Hollywood Stars logo mimicking the Mount Lee sign lettering, is an image of a classic Hollywood starlet. Dressed in a chic black outfit that accentuates her glamorous appearance, she epitomizes elegance with her red hair cascading over one shoulder, complemented by a sparkling ring and bracelet, while a backdrop of shimmering stars enhances the celebrity theme.
The Big Reveal
Playing Hollywood Stars is straightforward. You can set your stake between 0.1 and 10, determining potential winnings ranging from 100 to 10,000. To win big, you have to bet big.
Click the play button to uncover six random symbols, each hidden under a star. Match your lucky symbol with any of the six stars to win the corresponding prize.
After each round, the lucky symbol will appear in a star on the left side of the grid. For example, if it’s a box of popcorn, you need to find that symbol on the grid. Interestingly, you’re not obligated to reveal the lucky symbol; you can choose to proceed without knowing it, adding an element of suspense.
The symbols on the walk of fame represent everything associated with being a top movie star. High-value symbols include an Academy Award worth 500 and a champagne bottle worth 250. Lower-value symbols feature a cinema ticket, clapperboard, and a women’s magazine named Glitz with the same red-haired starlet on the cover. You can opt to reveal the symbols one by one by clicking on the stars, or uncover all six at once by selecting Reveal All.
When you don’t secure a win, a clapperboard will sound, and a director will humorously announce, “First positions, please,” reminiscent of a movie set retake. It’s a clever addition that enhances the cinematic feel.
Everyone’s a Star
Hollywood Stars may not win any awards, be it an Academy Award or otherwise, for its graphics and gameplay. Nonetheless, it’s an enjoyable scratch card-style game to indulge in for a while and visually surpasses Eyecon’s other title, Love Lines. Do you have what it takes to shine as a Hollywood star?
